Sometimes we pursue goals which are not our own. If we want to become a doctor, is it because we truly desire to heal the sick, or is it because all the women in the Smith family are doctors? Or because our parents want us to be something they can be proud of? Or because of the way being a doctor impresses other people in our lives? Or because it will make a lot of money for other people in our lives?
If we are trying to accomplish something for other people that is contrary to our own desires, we may subconsciously sabotage our own efforts in order to remain true to ourselves.
