Many of us spend so much time taking care of everyone else there is nothing left for ourselves; no time, no energy, nothing. A lot of us simply don’t realize that we are putting so much into everyone else at the expense of ourselves. Once brought to our attention, we will stop doing this behavior and start to take better care of ourselves. Some of us, however, are heavily invested in being perceived as suffering and sacrificing. When this is the case, we must look closely inside ourselves to see what we are gaining from such a perception. It may be a convenient excuse for avoiding success. “If only I didn’t have to take care of my sick wife, I could apply for that better job.”
