I’ve created this website for the purpose of providing information, dialogue, debate, commentary and more on modern mental health issues. I hope to provide a forum for developing more awareness about holistic mental health treatment rather than just going to the psychiatrist, having a diagnosis slapped on you, and taking a handful of pills. Medication can be a life saver for many people and I would never advocate eliminating it as a treatment modality. However, I cannot think of a single mental health issue that cannot be improved by eating a healthy diet, getting adequate sleep, getting exercise, and practicing good stress reduction techniques. I’m in the process of trying to create a non-profit center for comprehensive mental health healing which would include individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, massage therapy, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, nutrition information, and a personal exercise program. I hope to incorporate other therapies as time goes along and interest peaks in the community. Right now, finding the funding, the location, and the volunteers is the mission. But, more on this in future posts.
